The Presentation section was able to present many of the familiar programmes and introduce a number of new segments, Although the early morning "Overture" on Radio 4 had to be dropped in order to make better use of staff and funds it was still possible to provide alternate listening on Radio 4 from 2 p.m. each day for a period of eight hours. In February Ken Scott was confirmed as Programme Supervisor in charge of Presentation.
General Programmes

Towards the close of the year Sue Earle was transferred to the General Programme section and her morning show was taken over by Kirsty Hamilton. Presentation staff was joined by Errol Brosnan whose voice is familiar to those who have lived in Hong Kong for a number of years.

During his annual leave Ralph Pixton's "Morning Show" was handled by Kirsty Hamilton. On his return from leave Ralph returned to the "Morning Show" and again took on his ever popular "Open Line" segment which was extended to cover the period from 8.00 to 8.30 a.m. as well as the time slot 7.30-7.45 a.m. on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays.

There were a number of changes in format on Radio Three during the year. The Duty Announcer was gradually phased out and the time taken over by Presenters. Ralph Pixton from six until ten; Sue Earle and Kirsty Hamilton from ten until noon, Tony "0" from noon until three; Ashton Farley from three until five; Bob Williams and his Bumper to Bumper from five until seven and Barry Bakker from seven until eleven. Ray Cordeiro joined both Radio 3 and 4 at a quarter past eleven nightly to host his popular night spot "All the Way With Ray".

The news team, despite being below establishment, continued to increase output and venture into some new fields. Six main bulletins in Chinese and five in English were produced each day, and these were augmented by relays of BBC World Service bulletins in English and Chinese, as well as hourly headlines or summaries.

The current Affairs series "News Focus" was expanded to two editions a day on the Chinese service and to three programmes a week on the English service. News Focus takes an in-depth look at local and international affairs.
