94. The Staff Consultative Committee, under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner and comprising representatives from each grade or group of grades, met at quarterly intervals to discuss matters relating to conditions of service, uniforms, working conditions, etc.
95. There were 17 deaths amongst the junior staff during the year and their dependants received a total sum of $55,748 from the Pak Kam Wui or Funeral Scheme.
96. 96 officers, also minor staff, who retired at or beyond normal retiring age or who were invalided from the service, received retirement gifts bought with voluntary contributions from the staff of the department.
97. The departmental Welfare Officer runs a counselling service for junior staff and some 280 members of the department made use of this service during the year.

STAFF QUARTERS
Departmental quarters, consisting of either single or 2-3 bed- room flats or cottages, are provided for certain grades of departmental staff. All quarters are situated in or near estates or cottage areas and at the end of March, 1973 the total number of quarters was 493.
PUBLICITY
99. The department continued to give appropriate publicity to its activities during the year and a total of 332 radio and television inter- views were given by officers of this department.
