Population
166. The Census Commissioner's Report on the 1971 census had not been completed by the end of the year, but preliminary figures issued by the Commissioner disclose that the population of the Colony on the Census date, namely 9th March 1971, was 3,950,802, comprising 2,012,521 males and 1,938,281 females, and including 11,549 persons classified as transients. This population was distributed as follows:
