Chinese Partnerships Ordinance
91. There are 22 partnerships on the Register, only one of which has been registered since the war (in 1959-60). The other 21 were registered before 1935, and appear to be no longer in existence.
Limited Partnerships Ordinance
92. This Ordinance, which applies only to such partnerships as in the opinion of the Registrar of Companies can properly be described as non-Chinese partnerships (Chinese partnerships being registrable under the Chinese Partnerships Ordinance--see the preceding para- graph), enables partnerships to be registered between one or more general partners liable for all the debts of the firm and one or more limited partners liable only up to the amount contributed by them to the partnership. Two such partnerships were registered during the year, raising the total number registered to 26, of which only 13 are believed to be still in existence.
Registered Trustees Incorporation Ordinance
93. Under this Ordinance the duly appointed trustees (not being less than three nor more than seven) of any body of persons as defined in the Ordinance or of any charity may apply for incorporation; and the Governor may, if he considers such incorporation expedient, grant a certificate of incorporation, whereupon the trustees and their successors in office become a body corporate with perpetual succession. In June 1969 the Governor delegated to the Registrar General the power conferred upon him by the Ordinance to grant, cancel or amend certificates of incorporation. During the year three certificates of incorporation were granted, one by the Governor and two by the Registrar General under the delegated powers, making a total of 29 certificates so far granted. The objects of the 29 bodies or charities whose trustees have been incorporated are:
