SUMMARY
THE Registrar General's Department comprises the Land Office, the Companies, Trade Marks, Patents, Marriage, and Births and Deaths Registries, and the Offices of the Official Receiver in Bankruptcy and Companies Winding-up, the Official Trustee, and the Official Solicitor in Lunacy. The Land Office and the Offices of the Official Trustee and Official Solicitor in Lunacy are, with the Headquarters of the Department, located on the 6th and 11th floors of the Central Govern- ment Offices, West Wing, Lower Albert Road, Victoria. In December 1968 the Office of the Official Receiver moved to new accommodation on the 10th floor of Sutherland House, Chater Road, Victoria, except for the unit dealing with the liquidation of The Canton Trust and Commercial Bank Limited, which remained behind in the 6th floor of the West Wing of the Central Government Offices. The Companies, Trade Marks and Patents Registries are on the 9th and 10th floors of Kayamally Building, Queen's Road Central, Victoria. The locations of the Marriage and Births and Deaths Registries are given in Part VIII and IX relating to these Registries.
Organization and Staff
2. The Department is organized into two Divisions, namely the Land Office and the Commercial and Personal Division, which com- prises all other branches. At the end of the year the establishment of the Department consisted of the Registrar General, two Assistant Registrars General, each in charge of a Division, four Senior Solicitors, thirteen Solicitors, two Senior Assistant Registrars, forty Assistant Registrars, one Senior Executive Officer, two Executive Officers and 291 other officers. There was also a supernumerary staff of two Solicitors, one Assistant Solicitor, eleven Assistant Registrars and twenty-five other officers. Table I shows how this staff, permanent and supernumerary, totalling 395 officers, was distributed among the various Branches of the Department on 31st March 1969, and gives also the actual strength of the Department on that date. Table II lists the senior staff of the Department during the year.
