for a lease to which any of them is a party, and also made provision that any lease or agreement for a lease between any such exempted person and another person who is not an exempted person shall be deemed to contain a provision whereby the person who is not exempted undertakes to pay 50% of the duty payable in respect of the lease or agreement for a lease.

190. The Law Revision (Miscellaneous Repeals) Ordinance 1969 repealed inter alia the Rent Increases (Domestic Premises) Control Ordinance, which, as noted in paragraph 6, ceased to have effect after 30th June 1968.

Companies

191. The Motor Vehicles Insurance (Third Party Risks) (Amend- ment) Ordinance 1968 increased to $400,000 the maximum deposit that may be required by the Governor in Council under section 3 of the principal Ordinance when authorizing the carrying on of motor vehicle insurance business, and also the deposit required for exemption from the requirement of section 4(1) of the principal Ordinance that a policy of insurance or security in respect of third party risks must be in force in relation to the use of motor vehicles.

192. The Motor Vehicles Insurance (Third Party Risks) (Amend- ment) Regulations 1968 made consequential amendments to the principal Regulations following upon the Ordinance referred to in paragraph 191.

193. The Companies (Prevention of Evasion of the Societies Ordin- ance) Ordinance was extended for a further period of one year with effect from 1st January 1969 by a resolution of the Legislative Council passed on 18th December 1968.

194. The Law Revision (Miscellaneous Repeals) Ordinance 1969 repealed inter alia the Companies (Cessation of Emergency Status) Ordinance, which had ceased to serve a useful purpose.

Trade Marks

195. The Trade Marks (Amendment) Rules 1969 provided for an increase of certain fees payable under the Trade Marks Rules in connection with applications for the registration or renewal of trade marks.
