PART I
SUMMARY
THE Registrar General's Department comprises the Land Office, the Companies, Trade Marks, Patents, Marriage, and Births and Deaths Registries, and the Offices of the Official Receiver in Bankruptcy and Companies Winding-up, the Official Trustee, and the Official Solicitor in Lunacy. The Land Office and the Offices of the Official Receiver, Official Trustee and Official Solicitor are, with the Headquarters of the Department, located on the 6th and 11th floors of the Central Government Offices, West Wing, Lower Albert Road, Victoria. The Companies, Trade Marks and Patents Registries are on the 9th and 10th floors of Kayamally Building, Queen's Road Central, Victoria. The locations of the Marriage and Births and Deaths Registries are given in Parts VIII and IX relating to these Registries.
Organization and Staff
2. The Department is organized into two Divisions, namely the Land Office and the Commercial and Personal Division, which com- prises all other branches. At the end of the year the establishment of the Department consisted of the Registrar General, two Assistant Registrars General, each in charge of a Division, four Senior Legal Assistants, thirteen Legal Assistants, two Senior Assistant Registrars, thirty-eight Assistant Registrars, one Senior Executive Officer, two Executive Officers and 261 other officers. There was also a super- numerary staff of one Senior Legal Assistant, one Legal Assistant, one Legal Assistant (Pupil), eleven Assistant Registrars and twenty- five other officers. Table I shows how this staff, permanent and super- numerary, totalling 363 officers, was distributed among the various Branches of the Department on 31st March 1967, and gives also the actual strength of the Department on that date.
