Registrar General Annual Report 華民政務司 註冊總署 年報 All

Acknowledgments

190. In paragraph 4, summing up the position with regard to the Colony as a whole, I said the year was, all things considered, one of hard work, active business and very creditable achievement on all fronts. The same holds good for the Registrar General's Department, the work of which is directly affected by general business conditions. Although there was in some sections a reduction in the number of new cases, the general burden of work, including the massive millstone of the Canton Trust and Commercial Bank liquidation, continued to extend to the full the energies of a loyal and hard-working staff that was always considerably short of its legal establishment, and never quite up to full strength in other categories. In fact, as in previous years, a great deal of work had to be done outside normal office hours, and no praise is too high for the enthusiasm and devotion to duty of many officers of all grades who made this extra effort in the public interest. I have therefore once again to express my sincere thanks to all members of Department for their hard-work and unfailing support. My grateful acknowledgments are also due to the Government Depart- ments, solicitors, accountants and others with whom the Department has much to do, for all the co-operation, advice and assistance they have kindly given.

15th August 1967.
