(1) The proprietor of a lace and embroidery factory was prosecuted on four counts, namely, fraudulent disposal of goods; failing to keep proper books; making false entries in books of account; and making omissions in relation to his property and affairs. He was found guilty and sentenced to 9 months, 6 months, 3 months and 6 months respectively, sentences to run concurrently. (2) The proprietor of a sauce and preserved food factory was charged with failing to keep proper books of account and was sentenced to three months' imprisonment.

(3) The proprietor of a ladies' undergarment factory, prosecuted for failing to preserve his books of account, was discharged con- ditionally upon entering into a recognizance of $2,000 to be of good behaviour for three years.

(4) The proprietor of a ladies tailoring firm was charged with four offences, namely, making material omissions in a statement relating to his affairs; fraudulent transfer of goods; failing to keep proper books of account; and fraudulent transfer of goods with intent to defraud his creditors. He was found guilty on all charges and was sentenced to 6 months each on the first three charges and 9 months on the fourth charge, all sentences to run concurrently.

(5) The two partners of a zip fastener factory were charged jointly with failing to keep proper books of account and failing to give satisfactory explanations of their substantial losses. Both partners were found guilty and sentenced to 9 months on each charge, the sentences to run concurrently.

(6) Two partners of a knitting factory were charged jointly with failing to keep proper books of account and with pledging property for which they had not paid in order to obtain credit by fraud. They were both found guilty and sentenced to 12 months on each of the charges, the sentences to run con- currently.

(7) The proprietor of a provision store was charged on three counts, namely, intending to defraud his creditors by making a fraudu- lent transfer of property; failing to keep proper books of account; and failing to account for the loss of part of his estate. The Crown having entered a nolle prosequi on the first charge, the defendant was sentenced to 6 months each on the second and third charges, the sentences to run concurrently.
