to $7,292. Payments to beneficiaries totalled $2,864 (including $650 on capital account), and the Official Trustee's commission amounted to $145.68. Belilios Awards

125. Three Belilios Stars were awarded for acts of conspicuous bravery during Typhoon 'Ruby' on 5th September 1964, one to Mr. F. X. MONTEIRO, Acting Senior Land Assistant at the District Office, Tai Po, and the others to Messrs. CHOI Fat-po and NG Chung-kwong, Firemen attached to the Cheung Chau Fire Station. Mr. MONTEIRO gained his Star for swimming out in the height of the storm to a junk that was in danger of being battered to pieces near Tai Po and securing lines with the aid of which the junk was brought into the pier and those on board saved. Firemen CHOI and NG won their Stars while taking a leading part in the rescue of the crew of the s.s. Shun Fung, which ran aground at Cheung Chau during the typhoon. They carried out the rescue opera- tion perched precariously on a rock, and in spite of being repeatedly washed from their position by heavy seas succeeded in extending rescue lines from the bow of the ship by means of which the entire crew of forty-four were saved. In addition to their Stars Firemen CHOI and NG were awarded $100 each from the Belilios Trust funds, and another $100 was awarded to another Fireman, Mr. FAN Lam, for providing indispensable support to his colleagues at considerable risk to himself.
