80. A small fund known as the Registrar General's Department Charitable and Benevolent Fund has been set up for charitable and benevolent purposes relating to the staff of the Department and to the Colony generally. This fund is supported by the voluntary contributions of the more senior members of the staff. The balance on hand at the end of the year was $247.75.
81. As is apparent from the earlier Parts of this Report, the volume of work increased considerably in most sections of the Department, notably in the Land Office and the Marriage Registry, and many new records have been established. All members of the staff of the Depart- ment have had to work at high pressure throughout the year, and once again grateful acknowledgments are due to them for the manner in which they have carried out their duties.
