Registrar General Annual Report 華民政務司 註冊總署 年報 All

59. The Births & Deaths Registration (Amendment of First Schedule) Regulations, 1957, made by the Governor in Council on 12th March, 1957, and published in the Gazette of 15th March, 1957, as G.N. No. A18, revoked the First Schedule to the Births & Deaths Registration Ordinance (Chapter 174) and replaced it by a new First Schedule introducing a revised list of birth register offices and death register offices.

On the transfer of responsibility for registration of births and deaths from the Medical Department to the Registrar General's Department the opportunity is being taken to effect considerable reorganization of the Registries, and one of the first steps necessary for the purpose of implementing plans for decentralization is the introduction of an improved system of birth registration under which additional registries will be established to serve each individual district. This revised list of registries relates primarily to birth register offices and is introduced in pursuance of these plans.
