Discharges.

45. Two Orders for discharge were made by the Court, one being suspended for three months, the other for six months.

Previous Cases still proceeding.

46. There were outstanding from previous years and still unconcluded 18 bankruptcies (the Official Receiver acting as Trustee in 15, outside accountants in 3), and 11 compulsory liquidations of companies (7 handled by the Official Receiver, 4 by outside Liquidators).

Prosecutions.

47. Two Bankrupts were found guilty of offences under the Bankruptcy Ordinance, and sentenced to imprisonment, one for 3 months, the other for 6 months.

Stay of Winding up Proceedings.

48. Winding up proceedings were stayed in two cases. One of these was that of the Golden City Theatre Ltd., thus bringing to an end the Official Receiver's management of the Golden City Theatre, which had lasted for nearly 16 months.

Official Receiver in Bankruptcy Account.

49. As shown in Table XIII, the receipts for the year totalled $65,896.76; the payments, $318,413.34. The balance held at the end of the year was $136,019.52, of which $122,000 was held on Fixed Deposits.

The Companies Liquidation Account.

50. Receipts totalled $1,091,644.23; payments, $850,280.72. The balance held at 31st March, 1955, was $1,695,288.41, of which $570,000 was held on Fixed Deposit, and $957,071.59 was invested as shown in Table XIV.

Fees.

51. The Official Receiver's Fees and Commission charged during the year totalled $45,159.81, by far the highest figure since the war.
