Surrenders.
7. 68 Deeds of Surrender comprising 93 lots or sections were registered in 1951/52 as compared with 95 Deeds compris- ing 115 lots or sections in 1950/51. The total consideration paid was $4,339,886 as against $228,262 in the previous year. This large increase was almost entirely due to two important transactions, namely the Surrenders of Marine Lot No. 285 at North Point and of Kowloon Inland Lot No. 6064, at Mission Road, Kowloon, for which Government paid sums of $2,500,000 and $1,540,819 respectively.
Fees.
8. The aggregate amount of Land Office fees collected (exclusive of fees collected in the District Land Offices in the New Territories) was $218,539.50.
9. An analysis of the fees paid, by months and main categories is given in Table V. For purposes of comparison Table VI shows the totals of fees collected during the last ten years for which figures are available.
10. In the New
Territories, Land Registration fees amounted to $57,703.20. Crown Lease fees totalled $30.
Stamp Duty.
11. The total amount of Stamp Duty paid on instruments registered was $6,441,293.60, as compared with $4,345,423.05 for the previous year, representing an increase of some 48%.
Crown Rents.
12. The number of lots on the Principal Rent Roll was 14,428 an increase of 357 on the previous year's figure of 14,071, and the total Crown Rents amounted to $1,070,512.02, an
