In lieu of a camera I tried to make these pretty often in Mother's letters. They are very roughly done but they amuse Mother and so I venture to inflict them on my friends once in a while. You may not know what the black spots are in the tree, let me tell you they are the dwellings of three families of crows. Three families were raised over my head this summer, and there was no quiet to be enjoyed for Chinese crows are very loquacious and without number. There are very many large birds here.
