Postal storage facilities, commenced in advance of the new International Mail Centre at Hung Hom due to the loss of similar facilities at Tsim Sha Tsui railway terminus, were also completed during the year and piling work for the International Mail Centre was commenced.

A new cell block and refractory unit was completed towards the end of 1976 at Stanley Prison, as was a project to improve the kitchen facilities there.

The site formation and piling work having been completed during the previous year, work on the superstructure of the Reception Centre at Lai Chi Kok was progressing well when the year ended.
