The value of work carried out under the cleaning contracts during the year amounted to $2,486,000. The Branch is also responsible for payment of electricity and gas bills in offices shared by departments and in the common areas of non-departmental quarters, and for ensuring that economy measures affecting electricity consumption are enforced in these premises.

During the year a new series of maintenance contracts, which included provision for processing contractors' accounts by computer, was let. Computerised procedures were being introduced on a phased basis at the end of the year.

NEW WORKS

The following paragraphs briefly describe some of the Architectural Office projects which were completed or which were under construction during the year. Full lists of such projects costing more than $50,000.00 each are given at Appendices K and L respectively. Consultants who were engaged on certain projects are listed at Appendix M.

The Air Cargo Complex Office Block was completed by the end of 1976.

4.40

The new departure hall in the Terminal Extension was under construction and scheduled for completion towards the middle of 1977. This building will include a new baggage handling system. The podium which was completed in front of this extension will provide additional kerb space for passengers arriving by car or taxi.
