9.87

The coding of transportation data obtained in the 1976 Population By-Census was completed. Work continued on the processing of the collected data to study 1976 travel characteristics and to re-calibrate part of the CTS transport

models.

Transport Planning Studies

9.88

The following studies were completed by the transport planning team:

(a) An assessment of passenger ridership on a

hypothetical Kowloon-Canton Railway extension between Sha Tin and Kwai Chung.

(b) An assessment of the capacity requirements and project staging of the western approaches to the Airport Tunnel Road.

(c) A forecast of traffic flow on alternative connections between Route 5 (Sha Tin Tsuen Wan link) and Tsuen Wan By-pass.

(d) An assessment of the changes in boarding and alighting passenger volumes at Kowloon-Canton Railway stations resulting from the deletion of the Kowloon Tong Railway Station.

(e) A study of the effect of rise of fares of Hong Kong Tramways and China Motor Bus.

(f) An assessment of the origin and destination of train passengers using the Mariner Railway Station and the likely changes in boarding and alighting passenger volumes at other stations resulting from the deletion of Mariner Station.

(g) An assignment of daily and peak hour traffic flows in 1991 in the Kowloon Bay Area as a result of the proposed development of the former RAF Kai Tak Area and the property development over the Kowloon Bay T.R. Depot.
