11.41 The Division is responsible for the preparation of outline proposals for new water supply schemes for proposed developments throughout the territory, as well as for revision of requirements to meet growth of demand in existing, developing and re-developing areas.
Due to staff shortages, including the lack of a divisional head for a substantial period, considerable difficulty was experienced in meeting commitments and progress on some schemes was delayed.

11.42 The preparation of a technical note entitled 'Design Criteria: Introduction of a Salt Water Flushing System in Any Area in Hong Kong' continued.
11.43 A review of the planning of the new Waterworks depots at Lung Cheung Road and Wan Chai reclamation in accordance with the latest accommodation requirements was deferred as a result of a lower priority being assigned to the project.
11.44 A modification of the planning study on the reprovisioning of Cheung Sha Wan Sea Water Pumping Station was completed.
11.45 An appraisal of the North East Plover Cove Minor Catchments was carried out to determine the most economical development scheme.
11.46 Preliminary investigations for water supply system to the proposed development on Ap Lei Chau and the Industrial Estate at Wah Fu were carried out.
11.47 A detailed study of improvement and extensions to the Stanley and Repulse Bay Water Supply System was put in hand.
