GENERAL

The principal function of the Buildings Ordinance Office is the control, through the administration of the Buildings Ordinance on behalf of the Building Authority who is the Director of Public Works, of all private building and private street works.

5.02

This control is exercised by five General Divisions covering Hong Kong (East), Hong Kong (West), Kowloon, New Territories (East) and New Territories (West) respectively and by a Specialist Branch comprising the Dangerous Buildings Division, Works Division and Civil Engineering Division.

5.03 The Office was represented by senior staff on the following committees, boards or working parties:
