In addition to this housing, one estate primary school containing 24 classrooms together with two kindergartens were completed and construction was in hand on 14 similar schools comprising a total of 336 classrooms and 12 kindergartens.

Two Welfare Buildings, two Modular Markets and one restaurant were also completed, while seven restaurants and six Modular Markets were in the course of construction.

4.58 Work was also in hand on site formation to the balance of Pak Tin Estate to provide sites for the future building of accommodation for some 21,000 people. Planning/preparatory work was in progress on Chai Wan Estate - Area 6, Shun Lee Tsuen Estate, Balance of Pak Tin Estate, the 2nd phase of Tuen Mun (Castle Peak) Area 6 Estate and the Conversion/Redevelopment of Shek Kip Mei Estate, all of which, when completed, will provide a further 103,000 individual units.

By the end of the year the Princess Margaret General Hospital at Lai Chi Kok had been completed while work was nearing completion on the combined Staff Quarters which are to cater for that General Hospital and the Mental Hospital to be built adjacent to it. The site formation work for the Mental Hospital was also in hand.

Satisfactory progress was maintained on the construction of the second stage of Tsuen Wan/Kwai Chung Polyclinic.

Following completion of piling work for the first stage of Kowloon East Polyclinic, tenders for the superstructure contract were invited in February 1975.
