7.03 These concessions should assist estate developers and industrialists in their financial liquidity, and will possibly encourage investment in the realty market.

7.04 The Lands Tribunal Ordinance (Ordinance No.62 of 1974) was enacted during the year. The object of the Ordinance was to establish a permanent Lands Tribunal having jurisdiction to consider claims for compensation made to it under a number of Ordinances. Of the Ordinances included, the Public Reclamation and Works Ordinance, the Foreshores and Sea Bed Ordinance, the Streets (Alteration) Ordinance and the Crown Lands Resumption Ordinance, have particular relevance to the work of Crown Lands & Survey Office. The permanent Tribunal established by the new Ordinance is considered to be a more satisfactory board of arbitrators in both valuation and legal aspects than the now abolished system of Compensation Boards and ad hoc Tribunals, and should contribute to the smooth completion of resumption transactions and settlements of claims of compensation arising out of public works schemes etc.

7.05 Much senior staff time is taken up with attendance at meetings and service on committees. The Weekly Lands Meeting with representatives of the Environment Branch of the Secretariat and the Registrar General's Department, the Weekly P.W.D. Conference and Crown Land Conference and the fortnightly Building Conference are the principal standing meetings through which policy is formulated and cases are processed and where particular case problems are dealt with. The main inter-departmental committees on which the Crown Lands and Survey Office has senior representation are:-
