GENERAL

The principal function of the Buildings Ordinance Office is the control, through the administration of the Buildings Ordinance on behalf of the Building Authority who is the Director of Public Works, of all private buildings and private street works.

5.02

This control is exercised by five General Divisions covering Hong Kong (East), Hong Kong (West), Kowloon, New Territories (East) and New Territories (West) respectively and by a specialist Dangerous Buildings Division, a Works Division and a Civil Engineering Unit. The duties and activities of these are detailed in paragraphs 5.13 to 5.33.

The Office was represented by senior staff on the following committees or boards:
