Road Works in Hong Kong

9.13

The completion of Nam Fung Road has greatly improved the road communications for the Wong Chuk Hang and Aberdeen areas. It also provides a short cut to Wan Chai and Eastern districts. Work continued on the widening of Pokfulam Road through Pokfulam Village and the widening of Wong Chuk Hang Road between Aberdeen Technical School and Aberdeen Fire Station.

9.14

The work on the footbridge system in Central District continued. A high-level promenade along the sea front between the Central Vehicular Ferry Concourse and Blake Pier was completed, thus providing an elevated walkway connecting the vehicular ferry concourse, the Central bus termini, Connaught Centre, Union House and the Central Post Office.

9.15

The widening and realignment of Queensway to eliminate the notorious sharp bend commenced in January 1974. The extension of A Kung Ngam Road and the construction of roads and drains in Wan Chai Reclamation to cater for future development progressed satisfactorily.

9.16

A section of Cloud View Road extension was substantially completed and will form part of a future road link between Tin Hau Temple Road and Tai Hang Road.

A number of minor new roads were also constructed in conjunction with building development in Chai Wan, Chung Hom Kok and Wong Chuk Hang areas and also at Wan Chai Reclamation for a cargo handling area.
