The total expenditure under all four Heads in 1972-73 was $773,348,151 which was $239,965,163 or 44.98% higher than in 1971-72. The increase reflects a continuing expansion of the Public Works Programme and higher construction costs resulting from increases in wages and the price of materials.
2.36 The summary at Appendix G provides a comparison of the actual expenditure under each Head with the approved estimates broken down over the main project groupings.
