10.87 This group is responsible for all accounting and stores functions including the preparation and issue of water accounts. It is also responsible for the general and financial control of all revenue and expenditure within the office. It deals with personnel matters and provides general administration, secretarial, transport and other support services.

10.88 The total revenue collected for fresh and salt water supplied to consumers amounted to $122.6 million and the number of meters installed rose from 430,000 to 485,000. More than 52,500 enquiries and/or complaints relating to water charges were received during the year.

10.89 Water charges were increased with effect from 1st April, 1971 as follows:

Ocean-going from $5 to $7 per unit of 1,000 gallons
Non-ocean-going from $3 to $4 per unit of 1,000 gallons
Trade Supply
from $2 to $3 per unit of 1,000 gallons
