4.79. One professional officer did not renew his contract and left the service to return to Britain, whilst eight professional officers renewed their contracts for a further tour of duty.
4.80. One local professional officer (temporary) joined the office during the year and fourteen local assistant professional officers were promoted to full professional grade. Four expatriate professional officers (on agreement), selected for appointment by the Crown Agents, were recruited.
Training
4.81. One Structural Engineer was awarded a one-year Type 'C' full pay study leave for attending a postgraduate course for M.Sc. in Structural Engineering in the University of Surrey, Guildford, UK. Three Engineering Assistants (Building Services) commenced a 3-year B.Sc. Degree Course in Environmental Engineering in the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland, U.K.
4.82. Whilst on vacation leave in the U.K. the Government Maintenance Surveyor attended a Seminar on Management of Building Maintenance organized by the Ministry of Public Building and Works and the Greater London Council.
4.83. One Engineering Assistant (Building Services) was granted a two-year Type 'A' no-pay study leave for pursuing and completing his third and final year of the B.Sc. Electrical Engineering Course at the College of Technology, Portsmouth, England.
4.84. One Architect was nominated to visit London and Singapore in October/November 1970 to carry out research and to visit...
