Urban Services Buildings and Recreation Areas
4.64. A large sports ground at Aberdeen, a recreation ground at Tsz Wan Shan Resettlement Estate and a playground at Tuen Mun (San Hui) were completed. Work was in hand on a sports ground at King's Park, a playground at Kwun Tong, a playground at Cheung Sha Wan and Sham Tseng Playground, Tsuen Wan.
4.65. Several other small playgrounds or parks of varying sizes were completed and work was proceeding on others as part of the continuing programme for the provision of recreation areas for both adults and children. A number of minor improvements to existing facilities were also carried out, including a floodlighting programme of existing parks and playgrounds in both the urban and rural areas.
4.66. Morse Park swimming pool and Kwun Tong Swimming pool were both completed and Lei Cheng Uk swimming pool was nearing completion. Site formation work for Kennedy Town swimming pool was completed and tenders were invited for the piling work. These four complexes, the entire cost of which is being borne by the Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club, will each provide several separate swimming, diving, teaching and children's paddling and play pools.
4.67. Work on one beach building at Chung Hom Kok on Hong Kong Island and adjacent park buildings was completed, and construction work was in progress on a beach building at Cheung Chau.
4.68. Three public latrines and two bathhouses with attached latrines were completed in the urban area and the New Territories and five more latrines or bathhouses were under construction in various locations.
4.69. A hawker bazaar at Tai Kok Tsui, a temporary resite of Shau Kei Wan Market and the formation of a temporary hawker bazaar site at Wong Tai Sin were completed. Construction work was in hand on a market at Shau Kei Wan, a market at Ngau Tau Kok (Jordan Valley) and a hawker bazaar at Tsuen Wan, Area 4.
