10.24. Works completed comprised one fresh water pumping station, reconstruction of the roof of an existing fresh water service reservoir, 32.0 miles of fresh water mains over 4 ins. diameter, including 2.5 miles over 21 ins. diameter, and 8.8 miles of salt water mains ranging from 4 ins. to 27 ins. diameter. Investigations were made for two fresh water reservoirs for outlying islands and one irrigation reservoir in the New Territories.

Hong Kong Island
10.26. Construction of a scheme to provide a water supply to high level villages in the Shau Kei Wan area was substantially completed.
10.27. Laying of a new trunk feed main to the Aberdeen service reservoir, mainlaying for the Central District salt water flushing scheme Stage I and Reconstruction of the Eastern Service Reservoir roof was completed.
Kowloon and New Kowloon
10.28. To meet the increase in demand for flushing water, major extensions to the existing system in the urban areas of Kowloon continued. At Cheung Sha Wan construction work was completed to increase the capacity of the salt water pumping station from 8 to 18.5 million gallons per day. Mechanical and electrical work to complete the project was in hand. At Tai Wan construction work was completed on the new 24 million gallons per day salt water pumping station. Electrical works necessary to complete the project were in hand.
10.29. Additional barrack room accommodation and a canteen were built at the W.W. Depot at Argyle Street.
New Territories
10.30. Construction work continued at Castle Peak on the treatment works and service reservoir, and began on the pumping station and staff quarters. Delivery of the treatment works plant was completed and erection began. Remedial work was carried out on the Tai Lam Chung tunnel at Portal H.
