8.50. Members of the staff and their families enthusiastically supported the Departmental Swimming Gala and the Sports Day and performed creditably, winning several trophies.
## Staff Relations
8.51. The Joint Staff Discussion Groups continued to meet regularly and form a useful platform for solving problems arising between management and staff.
8.52. A further advance was made in the field of staff relations with the formation of 3 Credit Unions, affiliated to the Credit Union League of Hong Kong. These operate in the 3 areas, Hong Kong, Kowloon and the New Territories. At the end of the year a total of 760 members of the staff were saving through these Unions.
8.53. The Office Staff Club expanded rapidly during the first year and 1,143 officers had joined at the end of this period. An average of 20 events are organized each month, including sporting, social and fund raising.
