There were 10 officers undergoing this form of training during the year.

The Superintendent attended the Administrative Development Course Part II in January/February 1967 and one Land Surveyor and one Planning Officer attended the Extra Mural Course in Digital Computer Programming in FORTRAN (i.e. Formula Translation) organized by Hong Kong University. One Planning Officer was granted study leave and attended a course on tropical planning at Melbourne University in Australia.

5.42. Whilst there is as yet no British professional association catering for the needs of Cartographic Assistants wishing to become qualified, selected personnel are sent to the Directorate of Overseas Surveys for a 12 months course. During the year 2 completed and 1 started such a course.

5.43. One Assistant Planning Officer returned after successful completion of a 2-year post-graduate course in Civic Design, whilst 2 other officers started similar courses in September 1966. In addition two more
