Contract dredging work in Sai O Creek at Kat O Island was completed in July, and a total of 44,350 cubic yards of spoil was removed from the sea bed to provide a typhoon shelter for small junks. At Tsuen Wan 11,200 cubic yards of spoil were dredged from the approaches to the Gulf Oil pier to improve them for tankers carrying water to relieve the Colony shortage.
