367. The Crown Lands and Surveys Office Athletics Club gave evidence of its popularity in a membership of 70. The first Annual Dinner and Ball, held in the west wing canteen of the Central Government Offices, was a great success. 120 guests attended.
368. A number of successful and enjoyable outings and social gatherings were organized in the Crown Lands and Surveys, Development and Drainage Offices for local officers and their families.

369. Another year has passed; another year of achievement. Not only was the length of the works programme and the total expenditure another record, but last year saw the margin between actual and estimated expenditure reduced to very small proportions. The successful completion of such a programme of works could not have been accomplished without the unstinted support of all ranks of the Public Works Department. I thank them all and also those of the other Departments without whose co-operation we could not have done so well.
