New roads were also constructed in the New Territories and included the continuation of the road around the north side of Tolo Harbour from Taipo Market to Shun Wan and a road south of Un Long into the Sap Pat Heung Valley, a distance of some 1.7 miles. They are of light construction 10'-0" wide, and are provided with passing places formed by raising the level of the paddy land by earth filling. A 4" waterbound macadam was laid on a foundation of 3" to 6" hardcore and the surface sealed with bitumen and aggregate.
