152. Permits. Permits issued for the occupation of Crown land for short periods were of a miscellaneous character. Some details are as follows:
(a) In Hong Kong, Kowloon and New Kowloon 937 new permits were issued, 426 permits were cancelled and 262 permits were amended for various reasons.
The total number of permits in force at the end of the financial year was 5,728 and fees collected amounted to $3,180,609.34.
(b) Eleven temporary pier permits were issued and forty were renewed and total rent amounting to $174,045.10 was collected during the year.
(c) Four Encroachment Permits were issued to the Services at a nominal annual fee of $1.00 each.
(d) In the New Territories, excluding New Kowloon, the permit fees collected amounted to $103,883.90.
153. Drawing Office. The number of plans prepared was 21 sets for sales, 89 sets for leases, and 64 sets for surrenders. 24 miscellaneous tracings and 12,563 sunprints were produced, and fourteen 200′ to 1′′ sheets of Hong Kong and Kowloon retraced. Also produced were two new tracings of New Kowloon, 64" to one mile scale, and one of Peak District, 300′ to 1" scale. Government Departments were supplied with 4,582 plans, and the Public with 118 prints.
154. The "Copycat" printing outfit produced 2,522 prints and an additional 552 by Cyclostyle. The "Photostat" reproduction outfit produced 1,575 prints from 282 negatives.
155. Maps of Hong Kong and New Territories were amended and brought up-to-date. General records were transferred to twelve 200' to 1" sheets. Six S.D. 2 and four S.D. 1 sheets were also brought up-to-date.
156. 1,358 negatives for Progress Report Photographs were taken for the whole Department. 2,210 contact prints and enlargements were made. These included panoramic views showing the progress of the scheme for the rehousing of the
