37. The Police Headquarters is a reinforced concrete building 300 ft. long × 45 ft. wide with basement and 7 storeys. The whole building, apart from the top floor, provides offices for the Police Department. The top floor consists of a senior officers' mess and ante-room together with living accommodation for 6 senior officers. The whole of the office accommodation is air conditioned.
38. The Marine Police Station consists of a basement which houses the air conditioning plant for the headquarters offices, and 8 storeys above. The ground floor houses the charge room, cells and offices, and the whole of the upper floors provide living accommodation for 156 rank and file and 12 single officers.
39. The three flats consist of living-dining room, 3 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, 2 servants' rooms and servants' yard.
40. Construction of the basement, which is completely asphalt tanked, was carried out under a separate contract and was completed in May. The main contract was commenced in July, and was up to roof level by the end of the year.
41. Sha Tau Kok Village Police Post. This small police station, which was required to accommodate police while on duty on the border, provides a charge room, cells, office and barracks. It is a single storey reinforced concrete structure with a lookout post on the roof. Work was completed in June.
42. Sham Shui Po Police Station Extensions. Owing to the serious overcrowding of the existing station, plans were prepared for new extensions and for modernizing the existing buildings. The extensions, which consist of two new four-storey wings 75 ft. long × 31 ft. wide, provide accommodation for 288 rank and file, 12 NCOs and 7 single officers together with additional cells.
43. Owing to the poor nature of the ground the whole of the wings are carried on raft foundations to avoid the cost of the very deep piling which would otherwise have been necessary.
