A quarry was opened up and a large amount of other preliminary work completed.

261. With regard to the remainder of the scheme the following major orders were placed:

(i) Filtration plant, 10 million gall/day.
(ii) Pumping units 10 million gall/day.

A total of approximately 26,000 ft. of 30" dia. steel pipes was delivered.

262. Extensive surveys were completed to determine the pipe line and tunnel alignments and also the sites for the filter house, pumping station and service reservoirs. Trial and bore holes to determine rock level at the various sites were completed. Anti-malaria work by the Medical Department and afforestation work in the catchment areas by the Forestry Department were continued.

Miscellaneous Work.
