On the Mainland 135 new electric lamps were erected. A contract was let for the erection of new traffic signs made necessary by the introduction of the new traffic regulations, notably in connection with the establishment of the Silent Zone within the City of Victoria. The erection of the signs was completed before the end of the year.

196. Other Works:-Cape Collinson Road was repaired at the request of the R.A.F., and Cape D'Aguilar Road in connection with the new wireless-telegraphy station.

197. Summary:-The following areas of surfacing were laid during the year:
