The electrical installations were maintained in good order. 355 fans and fifty-six radiators were cleaned and overhauled. Fourteen fan motors were completely rewound and eight radiators fitted with new elements. Additions and alterations to thirty-four points were carried out in fourteen buildings. 2,028 points in seventy Government buildings were tested and repaired and eighteen inventories of electrical fittings issued.
On the premises of the Kowloon-Canton Railway-British Section the electrical installations in Tsim Sha Tsui Station, Offices and European Quarters, were maintained in good order. Permanent shelter for coaling coolies was wired for electric light. An underground cable from Goods Shed to Signal Cabin was laid at Railway Yard.
Electrical installations in Chinese Staff Quarters, A and B Blocks, were rewired. Total number of points, 113. A new 50-line telephone switchboard was installed at Kowloon-Canton Railway Station.

Improvements to Buildings:-The principal improvements carried out under this heading were as follows:--Police Training School-concrete floor to garage and arms grill, Green Island Depot-partitions to office, Kowloon Hospital-burglar proof guards, teak partition in "C C" Block, enclosed verandah to Medical Officers' Quarters and alterations to sinks and fittings for sunblinds, Yaumati School-entrance gate to playground and the construction of dark room, Royal Observatory-extension to thermometer shed and geysers to quarters and alterations to offices, Kowloon Mortuary-concrete ramp and entrance, Kowloon Junior School-covered way, Green Island Quarters-alterations to kitchen, Yaumati Police Station-door across corridor.
Electrical improvements and additions were carried out in six buildings.

69. Roads and Bridges (Maintenance and Improvements):-The surfaces of approximately fifty-three miles of roads were maintained in a satisfactory manner. The additional areas laid with improved surfacing during the year are:
