REVENUE SURVEYS AND GENERAL.
17. Surveys were made in detail for plans to be attached to Crown Leases of 869 lots. These surveys entailed very accurate measurements of all boundaries, dimensions in every case being given to the nearest inch. Co-ordinate values at each angle of lot were obtained and the areas computed by double latitudes. The measurements, co-ordinates and areas were entered in a special book kept for record purposes.
18. Surveys were made of several areas of various sizes for plans to be attached to deeds of surrender.
19. Contour surveys as detailed below were made and plotted.
Locality. Area in acres. Scale. Vertical interval. Remarks. Jardine's Look Out. 62.51. 1:600. 10. Land development. Ap Lei Chau. 4.00. 1:600. 10. Land development. Aberdeen. 70.30. 1:600. 10. Land development. Only 63 acres plotted. Stubbs Road. 2.05. 1:600. 10. Land development. Ventris Road. 1.00. 1:600. 10. Land development. The whole of these surveys was carried out by tacheometrical methods from traverses which have their origins in main or subsidiary traverses in the vicinities. The level values were obtained from known values of Bench Marks.
20. Surveys were made of matsheds at Tweed Island Bay, bathing pavilions at North Point, boundaries of Dairy Farm Lots along Victoria Road, forestry paths below Mount Collinson and Boa Vista, and from Wan Chai Gap to Magazine Gap Road.
A survey was made and plans prepared of areas taken over by Government from King's Park. Total area 93 acres plotted to a scale of 1:2400.
An area of 23 acres was surveyed and plotted to a scale of 1:2400 for Royal Air Force Officers' Quarters and another area of 10 acres to the same scale for Civil Aviation Officers' Quarters at Ngau Chi Wan.
A survey to show privately owned lots in the European Cemetery at Kap Shek Mei (an area of 11 acres) was made and plotted to a scale of 1:600.
