ROAD SAFETY MEASURES
153. The School Safety Patrol scheme was expanded to a total of 1,700 members from 35 schools. Road safety talks and slide lectures were regularly given to pupils by officers of the road safety section of Traffic Branch. The number of school crossing patrols increased and traffic officers continued to give instruction and demonstrations to potential recruits to the system.
154. Road safety campaigns including exhibitions, film shows, bicycle-riding proficiency tests, various competitions and demonstrations were staged in both urban and rural areas. All the campaigns attracted the attention of local residents and were given wide and favourable publicity.
