ALLEGATIONS AGAINST GOVERNMENT SERVANTS

98. 137 allegations against officers in other government departments were dealt with. After consideration by the Target Committee, 56 were referred to the Anti-Corruption Branch and after investigation nine were substantiated, 32 were unsubstantiated and 15 are still under investigation. Of the remainder, 49 were dealt with by other Police formations, or by the appropriate government departments. In 32 cases the Anti-Corruption Target Committee directed that no further action should be taken. A summary of action taken against government servants other than Police officers involved in corruption cases which have been heard in Court or dealt with departmentally is as follows:

99. 19 allegations against members of the public were dealt with. Of these two were investigated by the Anti-Corruption Branch and found to be unsubstantiated, while of the remainder, 12 cases were dealt with by other Police formations or by other government departments and were unsubstantiated, and in five cases the Target Committee directed that no further action should be taken.

100. Investigations into allegations against members of government departments resulted in 11 members of the public being convicted for offences of corruption, or for offences arising out of investigations into such allegations.

NARCOTICS BUREAU

101. The prevention and detection of offences connected with the unlawful manufacture, distribution and consumption of narcotics within the Colony are the responsibility of the Police Force. The Police maintain
