SOCIETIES
251. Under the Societies Ordinance the Commissioner of Police is the Registrar of Societies. On 31st March, 1965 there were 1,367 registered societies and 168 societies exempted from registration under the Sccieties Ordinance.
252. During the year 80 new societies were registered and 19 societies were granted exemption. 1 society changed its status from registration to exemption from registration under the Societies Ordinance. 25 changed their status by registering as companies, 1 society was cancelled and 4 societies were dissolved under the Societies Ordinance. Applications from 25 were under consideration on 31st March, 1965.
ARMS LICENSING
253. At the end of the year a total of 1,472 arms licences were in issue. 72 weapons and 1,637 rounds of ammunition confiscated by the courts were disposed of during the
year.
MISCELLANEOUS LICENCES
254. The Commissioner of Police in addition to being the Licensing Authority under the Arms and Ammunition Ordinance and the Vehicle and Road Traffic Ordinance is the Licensing Authority under certain other ordinances.
