208. With the opening of Wong Tai Sin Divisional Station, work has started on the plans to de-centralize the telephone system in Kowloon, thus reducing the load on the main Police exchange.
209. A new teleprinter network is in the advanced stage of planning and a traffic
survey is now being carried out to assess the potential of the network. 210. During the year the Commissioner of Police's 'Operations Room' was enlarged, and communication equipment was re-disposed to increase general efficiency.
211. The 'Radio Control Rooms' handled a total of 26,743 messages which included 16,346 '999' calls. There were 218 false ‘999' calls.

The teleprinter network passed 22,269 messages, an increase of 12.9% over the previous year.

213. A new Light General Purpose vehicle, the 'Leyland 20' has been introduced this year for Mobile Patrol work but it is too early to comment on its suitability. After trials with several types of motorcycles it was decided that the Force should continue to order 'Triumph 350 c.c.' which have now been in use since 1958.

215. The helicopters of the Hong Kong Auxiliary Air Force continue to give valuable help in aerial reconnaissance and in the evacuation of sick and injured persons from remote and outlying areas.
216. The Police Driving School at Fanling provided instruction courses for 269 members of the Force on various kinds of vehicles.
