32. The number of offenders placed under Police Supervision by order of the courts varied little from the previous year. Reports indicate that at least 50% of recorded supervisees subsequently committed further crimes, the majority of the offences being associated with drug addiction.
REORGANIZATION, NEW BUILDINGS AND EQUIPMENT
33. The Anti-illegal Immigration Branch, the Headquarters staff of which is provided from supernumerary posts, operated throughout the year. This Branch includes the Marine Division. Its future establishment and scope of operations depend on certain major policy decisions at present under consideration by Government.
34. A new Divisional Station with accommodation for 400 police officers was opened at Wong Tai Sin on 15th January, 1964. Prior to that date the Headquarters and other police staff of Wong Tai Sin operated from Kowloon City Divisional Headquarters. Wong Tai Sin Division extends eastwards from the eastern boundary of Kowloon City Division as far as Lei Yue Mun.
35. A new police post with accommodation for 30 officers was opened at Nam Sang Wai, Deep Bay, on 30th April, 1963.
36. A new Sub-divisional station with accommodation for 40 police officers was opened at Lau Fau Shan on 17th August, 1963. This station took over a sub-divisional area previously policed from Ping Shan Station, Yuen Long.
37. On the same date the Marine Division took over from Yuen Long Division responsibility for Tsim Pei Tsui Station, a new building over- looking Deep Bay.
38. These three new stations in the Deep Bay area were built primarily for the policing of the remoter areas on the north side of the Castle Peak peninsula and to prevent illegal immigration.
39. On 6th June, 1963 new married quarters for 100 N.C.O.s and P.C.s were opened at Tsuen Wan.
40. Further progress was made by the Public Works Department in building the new Police Training School at Aberdeen. At the end of the year the following were under construction: an assembly hall for 540 men, mess accommodation for 66 Probationary Inspectors, a Classroom
