members of the Force, all auxiliaries, civilian staff and police pensioners. At its Boundary Street Ground the Association has a well equipped club house and grounds for football and other forms of sport. Income is derived from monthly subscriptions and football gate receipts.
POLICE RECREATION CLUB
206. Membership of the Police Recreation Club is open to all officers of the rank of probationary inspector or above. There are ample facilities for cricket, tennis and lawn bowls.

SOCIETIES
207. Under the Societies Ordinance the Commissioner of Police is the Registrar of Societies. At the end of the year there were 1,227 registered societies and 100 exempted societies.
208. During the year 80 new societies were registered, 17 were granted exemption from registration, 91 changed their status by registering either as companies or co-operatives, 8 changed status for other varied reasons and 12 closed down. 61 applications for registration were under consideration at the end of the year.
ARMS LICENSING
209. At the end of the year a total of 1,485 arms licences were in issue. 308 weapons and 9,374 rounds of ammunition confiscated by the courts were disposed of during the year.
MISCELLANEOUS LICENCES
210. The Commissioner of Police in addition to being the Licensing Authority under the Arms and Ammunition Ordinance and the Vehicle and Road Traffic Ordinance is the Licensing Authority under certain other laws. At the end of the year the numbers of licences in issue under those laws were:
