When the Constables join, they are formed into platoons, with the cadre course officers as platoon leaders. Each course lasts for three months and is of great benefit to both instructors and Constables, the former gaining experience of leadership and training, the latter benefiting not only from the extra knowledge absorbed, but also from the high degree of physical fitness attained. Normally Junior Officers are posted to the Contingent in their thirteenth month of service, and Constables after they have completed two years. N.C.Os attend as soon as possible after promotion.
