The rank and file shown as attached to the three Dis- tricts are in the main employed on standard beat and patrol duties in urban areas, and on village penetration patrols in the New Territories. 38. 39. (a) The average man days lost during the year due to sickness was 26,687. The number of days lost during 1957/58 was 25,913. Of the total for the current year 9,555 days sick leave was granted to sufferers from tuberculosis. The annual X-Ray survey of Force and Civilian staff detected sixty five active cases of this disease, as compared with seventy five cases in 1957/58 and seventy two cases in 1956/57.
(b) No member of the Force was killed on duty during the year.
