TRAFFIC OFFENCES

147. Prosecutions for traffic offences increased from 39,090 to 52,302. This increase is mainly attributed to the significant rise in the number of vehicles and drivers licensed during the period and to sustained efforts to enforce the law. The policy of instruction and warning has however been fully maintained. Appendix IX shows comparative figures for warning and prosecution for the past five years.
