RECRUITMENT
37. During the year thirty six overseas and seventeen local officers were recruited by direct entry to the inspectorate and twenty three members of the Rank and File were promoted to that rank. The number of applications for direct entry both locally and in the United Kingdom was disappointingly small, but the standard of those appointed continu- ed to be satisfactory and in respect of overseas officers the Force is greatly indebted to those responsible in the office of the Crown Agents who have shown a very clear appreciation of the requirements of this Force and have made the most strenuous efforts to meet them.
38. Of eleven vacancies in Gazetted Rank ten were filled by appointment from the inspectorate and one by transfer from another Colony.
